Practical information

Before your appointment

What can you expect before, during and after your sessions at EGOLAB? Here you will find answers to the practical questions — so you can focus, with peace of mind, on what the sessions are really about: you.

Before you arrive

Good to know before your first session

The best preparation is to consider what you would like to get out of the sessions. Ask yourself: How would I like things to be different when therapy has ended? Think, for example, of your relationships with family, friends and colleagues — or of work, education and leisure.

Once you have a picture of what should be different, you can note down the symptoms or patterns that trouble you or stand in the way of change. That gives us a good starting point — but it is not a requirement.

Hard to put into words? That is completely normal — and it is perfectly fine to come unprepared. Then we simply begin by exploring together what you would like to get out of therapy.

The framework

How your sessions are structured

Duration

A session lasts 45 minutes. We use the last 5 minutes of the allotted time to round off, handle payment and agree the next steps. Longer sessions can be arranged in advance.

Number of sessions

It depends on the problem and your goals. A course of therapy typically takes 3–12 sessions over 3–6 months — and you decide when you have got what you came for.

The first session

We create clarity about the problems and your patterns of reaction — and often the treatment itself can begin in the very first consultation.

Between sessions

We can agree on homework — reflection or training exercises, for example — that helps you move closer to your goals between consultations.

Cancellation, payment and prices: You will find the rules for cancellation and payment in our terms and conditions — and all prices on the price page (both in Danish). If illness prevents you from attending, the session can often be switched to video or phone — just let us know as soon as possible.

During therapy

The therapy space is yours

Therapy sets thoughts and questions in motion — and you are free to raise them along the way. The therapy space also works as a practice room, where you can try out new skills and get feedback on how to bring them into your everyday life. You choose what you want to work on and how deep you want to go — and if there is something you did not get to say, you are always welcome to contact us between sessions.

Collaboration and feedback

If you feel that the focus or the benefit differs from what you expected — or that things are moving too fast or too slowly — say so straight away. Close collaboration gives the best results.

Notes

We sometimes take brief notes — typically keywords that help keep your sessions coherent. You are always welcome to ask and to have a look. See also our privacy policy.

Supervision

We receive ongoing supervision, in which methods and theory are discussed with other professional psychologists — under the same duty of confidentiality. The aim is to give you the greatest possible benefit.

Confidentiality

What you tell us stays with us

As psychologists, we are bound by a strict duty of confidentiality. Everything you tell us is handled within current legislation — and the only exceptions to confidentiality are those laid down by law. Read more about how we handle your data in our privacy policy.

Ending therapy and feedback

When you have received the help you came for, we end the sessions. We greatly appreciate a few parting words — in an email, for example — so we can keep getting better.
