    How to get started

Three steps to your first session

    1

    Choose your psychologist

If you know the name, write or call directly — the contact details are on the psychologist’s profile. If not, the form takes care of it for you.

    2

    Write a few words

Briefly tell us what you would like help with, and choose a psychologist or clinic in the form. That is enough — we do not need a long backstory to get started.

    3

    Quickly into the calendar

You will get a reply within 24 hours. If we can help you, we send you a short intake form and book you into the calendar — as a self-payer, typically within a week.

    Frequently asked questions

    Before you write

    Your first session

Before your first session, you might consider what you would like to be different in your life. If that is hard to answer, we simply start the conversation there. Treatment most often begins already in the first session.

How long is the waiting time?

As a self-payer, we can normally offer you an appointment within a week. Clinics that accept GP referrals may have a longer waiting time.

    Which methods do you use?

Our psychologists have completed extensive further training in psychotherapy and mainly work with cognitive and short-term dynamic methods. If you would like one particular approach, mention it in your message — and we will match you with an experienced psychologist. See our types of therapy (in Danish) →

Can I use my GP referral?

Yes — in Frederikssund, Vordingborg and Nexø as well as for online video consultations. If you are a member of Sygeforsikringen Danmark, you may also be entitled to a subsidy. See prices and subsidies (in Danish) →

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on the difficulty, the habits around it and your motivation — but treatment typically takes 3–8 sessions.

    Tests and assessments

We also offer tests and assessments — from WISC/WAIS and TOVA to complete assessments. Read about tests →

    Good to know

    Always available by email

Our psychologists are in sessions most of the day — so a message through the contact form is almost always the fastest way to get an answer. We reply as soon as we see it, typically within 24 hours.

If you would rather call, find your psychologist and use their direct number on the profile page.

    In case of emergency

EGOLAB is not an emergency service. In case of immediate danger to yourself or others: call 112. If you need someone to talk to right now, you can call the Danish helpline Livslinien on 70 201 201.
