Typically 1–6 sessions · Standard session rate · Relatives can be involved

Conversation over an open book with a glowing light bulb — psychoeducation for adults

What is psychoeducation?

Learning — not therapy

If you have been assessed and given a diagnosis, or you have a particular vulnerability, psychoeducation is an effective tool for greater self-understanding: you learn how your psychological condition affects the way you experience and react — and gain practical, constructive tools for navigating the challenges.

Psychoeducation differs from therapy in that we do not need to go into the specific, difficult situations. The focus is on learning about the psychological principles behind them — the aim is to inform, to build better coping strategies and to increase quality of life.

Family and relatives can be involved: they gain an understanding that enables them to support you better — and insight into the limitations of being a relative.

Benefits

What you gain from a programme

Greater understanding

Getting to know your condition — its symptoms, mechanisms and impact on everyday life — for both you and your family.

Stronger self-worth

Many people with psychological difficulties feel that they are somehow wrong. Insight into the mechanisms shows the opposite: you are not wrong — what matters is how the mechanisms are handled.

Coping strategies

You practise concrete strategies for managing your particular psychological vulnerabilities.

Better communication

You learn to put into words and explain how the mechanisms affect you — to family, friends and your workplace.

Greater quality of life

Greater control over your life through a changed way of handling the psychological mechanisms.

How it works

Tailored — at the standard session rate

Psychoeducation is a collaborative process that promotes understanding, resilience and hope. The sessions are tailored to your needs, and you take home a clear, written description and explanation.

Sessions last 60 minutes, and most people have the information they need after 1–6 sessions.

What does it cost?

You pay only the standard session rate — the total price depends on the number of sessions. See the current prices (in Danish).
